      Security Analyst Interview

      11 Aug 2023
      Anonymous interview candidate
      Tampa, FL
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Difficult interview

      Application

I applied through an employee referral. I interviewed at ReliaQuest (Tampa, FL) in July 2023

      Interview

For an entry level position, the interviews were very difficult. There are four rounds of interviews all of which were focused on the applicant's (my) technical knowledge. All of the interview questions were about hard skills in IT and nothing in regard to soft skills. As a recent college graduate in cybersecurity, much of the technical know-how they expected me to have an in-depth understanding of, was relatively new. In my interview I described my skills in customer service, learning to work cohesively in teams, knowing when and how to find answers to questions, and my abilities to work with both people and technology; frequently enough, the questions would resume being about technical concepts. The process also included a 25 question online assessment after the first interview which also was all on network and cybersecurity tasks asking the applicant to make decisions. The interview process and the interviewers made me feel uncomfortable to say the least. The second round interviewers found it necessary to ask multiple times what degree I received and suggest I start at "square one" with my cybersecurity journey -- I do not really know what that means. It seems that ReliaQuest in Tampa is not necessarily seeking entry level applicants but rather experienced and advanced people to fill entry level titled roles for the compensation of the entry roles. The conclusion I walked away with is that ReliaQuest wants individuals who already are familiar with just about everything IT and don't necessarily have people skills and/or an inclination to learn. Although I had a poor and somewhat demoralizing experience interviewing, I must note that I have met many sincere folks from ReliaQuest who were nothing but amazing people. For those reading this, don't shy away from applying as I am sure there are many great opportunities with this company!

      Interview

Expect questions like "how do you handle failure?" and "tell us about a time you had a difficult situation and how you handled it." Also from real interviews: "Tell me about yourself", "Why do you want to work here?"

      Interview

I initially did a phone interview before moving on to one or two more Zoom calls for more questions. After I completed a 25-question exam and passed. If I recall correctly, I had another zoom call and then received a phone call saying I was no longer in consideration.

      Security Analyst Interview

      13 Feb 2025
      Anonymous employee
      Tampa, FL
      Accepted offer
      Positive experience
      Difficult interview

      Application

I applied through a recruiter. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at ReliaQuest (Tampa, FL) in Feb 2025

      Interview

The interview process at ReliaQuest was both challenging and rewarding. I was first contacted by a recruiter on LinkedIn about the opportunity, and knowing ReliaQuest’s reputation, I immediately jumped on it. My recruiter was incredibly supportive throughout the process, providing guidance and clear expectations every step of the way. The journey began with a screening call that included a mix of technical questions and a discussion about my background and the role. From there, I completed a technical assessment, which was tough but manageable with the right preparation. After passing, I moved on to the technical interview, an hour-long session with two Senior Employees who asked rapid-fire technical and scenario-based questions. This interview truly tests both your technical knowledge and problem-solving approach, so preparation is key. Following the technical stage, I completed behavioral and cognitive assessments, along with a writing sample. Finally, I had the in-person leadership interview, which was both challenging and insightful. One thing that stood out throughout the entire process was ReliaQuest’s passion for excellence—everyone I met, from recruiters to leadership, shared a deep commitment to their work and their team. It was an incredible experience, and I’m thrilled to be joining such a talented and driven team at ReliaQuest!
