I applied online. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at Roblox in June 2022
Interview
Phone screen with recruiter: Talked about myself, my goals, the company. Recruiter spoke fluently about the team & hiring goals, and set expectations for the interview process.
Coding challenge: Met one of the engineers on my team and got to talk about the work for 15 minutes, with a 45-minute coding challenge in the middle. Thankfully, the problem felt like it tested your skills as a software engineer, and not your memory of algorithms class.
Virtual onsite: Had the opportunity to do this over two days but decided to do it all together. They fully briefed me on the process, which included two more coding challenges, a product-type question, and a conversation with my would-be manager. It was about 4 hours of interviewing total, plus breaks. The whole process was organized, and everyone I met was really nice.
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
I'm not sure if I'm allowed to say. But be prepared to talk candidly about your career and where Roblox fits in. Also, be able to talk about some important moments of your career as an engineer so far.
Took an OA. Pretty difficult leetcode style questions and some games (Roblox games and psychology based games to determine personality traits). I did not get through the initial online assessment.
One standard hr phone call then one 60 min phone screen. Nothing out of the ordinary. Phone screen was done on codesignal where you could see code compile and run
Interview consisted of two leetcode style questions and two "games" that tested problem solving and optimization. Coding questions were of medium/hard difficulty. The games were difficult as the instructions given were terrible and unintuitive.
