I applied online. I interviewed at Rockwell Partners (Glendale Heights, IL)
Interview
Received an email then an interview date and time was set up. After a 35 mile drive, I finally got to the property and the manager was sitting at the desk and after I introduced myself, she told me to go wait in the common area.
15 minutes later, I was escorted in and I give her my resume and she asks, do you have any Marketing experience? I'm quite surprised and thought to myself, my resume is all marketing....hello!!
Well she goes on to tell me she just started and is stressed out and needs help. She pulls out a note pad with people she has to call back to renew...she then took me to the models, that were rather "not touched" up in sometime so I decide to pick up the trash on the carpet and fix up the bed, not to impress her, but it was really bothering me to see that I guess.
She then makes me talk to a maintenance guy, and he tells me he how challenging the property was...blah blah blah!
My vibe was...this company is not giving the site team the resources to do their job. They were hiring for a leasing agent/assistant manager, this tells me do the job of two people but you are getting paid for one. Oh, and this is an 800 unit plus property.
So an hour and a half later, I get called back into the managers office and she says she is interviewing other people and will have me meet the owner by Tuesday, this was on a Friday. Tuesday comes and goes, the following Thursday approaches and I follow up. No response for a few days but then get the email they went with another candidate.
I applied online. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Rockwell Partners (Chicago, IL) in June 2015
Interview
You get an initial phone interview. Pretty short, but if they like you an interview will be scheduled immediately. You'll go in for the first interview and sit down with one to two employees. It's a pretty standard interview. They ask about previous experience, why you want to go into this market and random questions about your background. Then you have to wait for another call to set a second interview. This one you sit with the owner (who is also a partner). He tells you a lot more about the company, the role, and expectations. If he likes you- you are hired.
