      Application

I applied online. I interviewed at SB Energy

      Interview

After application, a short screening interview was held with the Recruiter. Then I had a longer interview with the hiring manager and a couple of people who were stakeholders followed by an interview with the head of HR. All interviews up to the last one were very pleasant and professional, with typical questions asked about my experience and time provided for me to ask questions about the role and company. At this stage I was very excited about the opportunity. I withdrew from the process after the interview with the head of HR. The tone of the interview was vastly different, and did not at all feel as if I was being recruited for the role. After spending so much of my time on the process I was challenged in an insulting way about my years of experience and told I would need to make an in person presentation to show that I could do the job. Additionally, this job had been presented (and discussed in previous interviews) as little to no time in office with flexibility on location. The HR interviewer stated a different preference for location and multiple days per week in office. This might not have been an issue for me had it been communicated up front, but I found the change at the end of the interview process disingenuous. Finally, the head of HR stated that they are operating with much less staff compared to similar solar companies. When I asked whether this was an intentional operational model or a temporary issue while they staff up, I was told that it is very much intentional and that they rarely hire more than 20 people per year.
