I applied online. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at SM Energy in Dec 2025
Interview
Applied on LinkedIn. Spoke to the recruiter from the staffing agency. Had an initial call with the team lead and a technical expert. The final interview was a panel with a technical solution design presentation based on a scenario. They made me an offer for an open-ended length hourly contract, I negotiated a 10% increase in pay, but they couldn't budge on the abysmal benefits. I went with another offer.

Question 1
Our company manages relationships with thousands of landowners, which results in a high volume of inquiries coming into a single, shared email inbox. Currently, our team manually reads each email, categorizes the request, and, if necessary, creates a ticket in SAP for further downstream actions. This process is time-consuming and prone to human error.
We want to build an intelligent automation solution to streamline this workflow.
I applied online. The process took 3 months. I interviewed at SM Energy in July 2025
Interview
Process took 51 days. 3 live interviews with 4 different people. Is someone from your panel doesn’t make your interview they just keep scheduling more and more for their convenience. They’ll push you off to additional managers for interviews and not even tell you that it’s for a different role.
Very unserious company that is a complete mess from top to bottom. After those 3 interviews and 51 days later never heard back one way or another. To top it off role was still actively posted 98 days later.
I applied through university. The process took 2 days. I interviewed at SM Energy (Austin, TX)
Interview
Dinner after university career fair event. Interview the next day in university building. Very easygoing and respectful employees, all of them seemed like great, genuine people. Interview the next day was not technical, mostly asked experience related questions.
