I applied in-person. I interviewed at Scone Equine Group (Scone) in July 2025
Interview
The interview process started with an initial phone screening where we discussed my background, interest in equine science, and availability. After that, I was invited to an on-site interview at the lab, which included a short tour of the facilities and an overview of the Junior Scientific Officer role and daily responsibilities. I then had a panel-style conversation with two senior staff members and a lab supervisor, where they asked a mix of behavioural questions (teamwork, handling pressure, communication) and technical questions about basic laboratory techniques, quality control, and sample handling. The atmosphere was professional but friendly, and they gave me time to ask my own questions about training, work hours during the busy season, and opportunities to develop my skills. The whole process from application to offer took about two to three weeks, and I received the offer shortly after the final interview.
