I applied online. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at ScorePlay (Paris) in Nov 2025
Interview
30 min call with the recruiter. And then a 30 min call with the Hiring Manager was scheduled. She arrived a few mins late, and proceeded to talk for 10 mins about herself, and then another few mins about the company. I said I had a question about the company that could wait til the end due to time constraints, but she encouraged me to ask it. This left less than 10 mins available for me to talk about myself. I spoke about my practical experience but also expected I would have the possibility to demonstrate my technical knowledge, but I was not given this opportunity.
The HM answered my follow up questions by email. I then waited 10 days until writing to ask about the next stage. Then got rejected with the reason given they met other candidates with stronger experience and expertise.
My problem with this that what did the HM learn from our discussion that was not already in my Resume? She does not understand my level of technical expertise in this field. So to come to such a conclusion, without allowing me the possibility to demonstrate this, is disrespectful of my time. I question why the HM decided to speak so much about herself and not try to learn more about me.
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
The only question I had from the Hiring Manager was "Are you still working in that position?". This was after she told me she read my Resume. There was no attempt to understand my technical knowledge required for the role, and too little time allocated for me to be able to demonstrate this.
I applied online. The process took 2 months. I interviewed at ScorePlay in Feb 2025
Interview
- Initial screening with internal recruiter
- First round interview with CTO to describe company and screen
- Take home assignment
- Presentation of assignment with review from devops engineer and lead developer
Following this, the company spent several weeks saying they "needed to compare me with other candidates", but that they had none in the pipeline. Eventually, they asked me for references and scheduled meetings with my references. They then spent several more weeks giving no further information, before eventually saying they had "rescoped" the role (which is still listed, with exactly the same specification, on their careers page at time of writing).
A very negative experience, doubly so as I was unemployed at the time. It would have been more mature and conscientious to just send a rejection, rather than stringing it out for weeks, involving my references and then rejecting anyway.
