I applied online. I interviewed at Scottish and Southern Electricity Networks (Perth, Scotland) in May 2026
Interview
A 3-stage process of an individual interview, math assessment, and group assessment
The interview consisted of four standard questions; however, the assessors were brilliant in reassuring you, and no grilling was involved. The math assessment was timed with questions that started at Nat5 difficulty and then became harder; also, a calculator was included. Finally, the group assessment consisted of working with the other applicants to answer a question relating to SSE and presenting it to the assessors and other SSE staff who were assisting that day.
There were also opportunities to speak to current SSE trainee engineers and ask any questions you had about their role/SSE as a whole.
