I applied online. The process took 5 weeks. I interviewed at Shell (London, England) in Jan 2020
Interview
Brief (45 minute) online quiz followed by a 25-minute video interview. The quiz was quite straightforward, a little time-pressured, and very enjoyable to take. The video interview consisted of 5 pre-recorded questions. For each question, you had 1 minute to prepare and 3 minutes to answer.
Give me a time when you learnt a new skill. What was the situation, why did you learn it, what did you learn, what was the outcome, and did you get any feedback?
Give me a time when you were under pressure to reach a difficult objective. What was the objective, what were the challenges, how did you respond to the pressure, and what was the outcome?

Interview
The interview process focses on behavioral assessments and technical screenings. Candidates are tested on the "CAR" method, focusing on safety, leadership, and on job competence through structured and in depth questions.
The first round is a recorded video interview. You need to record some videos based on their questions. There were 3 questions or me, which is not very unique. About your project, your interest in Shell.
I recently completed a video interview on HireVue, and the overall experience was pretty interesting. The platform presented a large number of psychological assessment questions along with several prompts focused on workplace morality and ethical decision-making. I appreciated that HireVue allowed unlimited time to record and re-record my video responses, which took a lot of the pressure off and made the process feel more flexible and less rushed.
Each portion of the interview was fairly in-depth and required thoughtful answers, so it ended up taking around 30 minutes per section. The combination of the structured assessments and the freedom to redo videos made the entire interview feel thorough but manageable.
