I applied online. I interviewed at Shonan International School in June 2022
Interview
The interview was conducted online. Although the school claimed to be an IB institution, the interviewers demonstrated very little understanding of the IB framework. They seemed more focused on where I lived and my potential start date than on my professional experience and qualifications. Asking about my current salary was a major red flag, as it’s both inappropriate and unprofessional.
Another concerning point was their emphasis on the idea that "all the teachers are like a big family" and that most live near the school—this felt more like a warning than a selling point. Responses to my questions were vague and evasive, which only added to the sense that the school lacked clear direction and professionalism.
I applied in-person. I interviewed at Shonan International School (Fujisawa, Kanagawa)
Interview
We casually talked about our pedagogical views on teaching and learning. IT was quite informative. The teachers are very experienced and well educated. Also I was asked to join a class to read a book with the students. Such a well behaved and emotionally balanced children. It made my interview alot easier!
