Customer Service Sales Advisor - Live Chat and Live Messaging Interview

      8 Nov 2019
      Anonymous interview candidate
      Stockport, England
      No offer
      Positive experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied in-person. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Sky (Stockport, England) in Nov 2019

      Interview

I applied on 22 October 2019, completed an online assessment on the same day then received an invitation to complete the video assessment. I did the video assessment on 23 October. It was basically five questions I got asked and I had to record my responses in a limited time (I think it was 2 mins or so). Re-recording or pausing the test wasn't possible. Next day, I got an email saying that I had passed the video assessment and would be invited soon to the Experience day. I received a call on Monday 28 October, I confirmed some of my personal information and the lady explained what the Experience Day was. I attended Sky Experience Day on Tuesday 5 November in Sky Stockport. There were seven of us on the day. We all waited in the reception then we were escorted to the fifth floor where our documents were taken and copied. Next, we watched a short video about Sky: culture, benefits, etc. After that, we were sat on two tables, and each group were asked to find a common thing between them. We were given 5 mins to finish this task. Then, we were given a sheet, in which there were around 20 positive phrase and words related to the personal specs: like (knowledgable, polite, etc.) and we had to choose 5 of them and explained to our a group why we chose that particular word or phrase. We were given 5 mins. Next, we were handed, like, a brochure containing some of Sky's bundles: TV bundles, Box Sets, Broadband, etc. and we were asked to read them, then working as a group, each table had to find the most suitable offer/s to five customers in another sheet. We were given 8 mins (or 10). After that, we went down to the second floor to do the play role. Each one sat next to an advisor who acted as the customer. The role play was done on a word document and each applicant and the advisor took a turn to write their response. The time for this part was 8 mins. Before starting the role play, we received a sheet containing the data of 3 customers and we were told that we would be challenged with one of them only. Then we went back upstairs where we were interviewed one by one. We were each given a sheet containing a box where we wrote why we chose to apply for this role, and a table containing 8 statements where we had to tick one of three choices (This is me, this is a bit me, this is not me) then we were interviewed one by one when we had to explain why we ticked each statement. The interview didn't let me explain and interrupted me more than once and wasn't polite at all. The last part of the day was a tour where we visited different parts of the building. We were told that we would receive a decision Friday night or more likely on Monday, but surprisingly, I received mine the next day!!! I liked the part when we had to watch a short video and chatting with each other to find a common thing. This part absorbed my nervousness and made me relaxed. The lady who sat with us until we all were interviewed was so nice and lively. She answered all the questions I intended to ask after the interview (because the interviewer didn't ask me if I had any question). All in all, it was an excellent experience, except that I had a feeling that I was shortlisted for one reason: to have a variety of applicants and wasn't actually shortlisted, due the fact that I got the decision in less than 24hrs while we were informed that it would take them between 5 and 7 days to respond. They didn't provide specific feedback.
