I applied online. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at SkyWest Airlines (Phoenix, AZ) in July 2021
Interview
I liked that it was conducted via Skype and one-on-one with a single SkyWest representative. It was nice to not have to travel to the initial interview. Overall the information discussed was stuff that I was familiar with from my pilot career, although the overall amount of material that was fair-game to be discussed was almost overwhelming. I think that knowing which areas--such as use of Jeppesen products and specific pilot time that would be discussed to satisfy minimum hiring requirements--would have helped. Broadly telling me to be familiar with Part 121, aircraft systems, and high-altitude operations/aerodynamics that are beyond most pilot experience was quite stressful. I very much liked how my interviewer asked about my experiences that involved decision-making, interactions with other pilots, stressful situations, personal limitations, and unique experiences beyond basic General Aviation operations. I think the interview was very fair, and fairly conducted, overall that that I had a personal sense of whether or not it went well for me when it was over.

Interview
SkyWest’s interview process felt professional, welcoming, and well organized. Recruiters communicated clearly, valued candidates’ time, and created a supportive atmosphere. Questions were thoughtful and relevant, allowing personalities and experience to shine. Overall, the process reflected the company’s strong culture, high standards, and genuine commitment to employee success and long-term growth
Very relaxed. Had to prepare a lot on the topics addressed, but the interview was relatively straight forward with the studying I had done. I felt good in the interview and really was able to ask a lot of questions, learn more about the company, and it allowed me to know this is where I wanted to go.
