I applied online. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Smartsheet in July 2021
Interview
Multiple interview process:
1. Pre-Screen CV walkthrough
2. 1:1 Coding Challenge
3. 3hr "Loop" Interview
1. Pre-Screen easy enough walkthrough role and your CV
2. Live Code Challenge (paired), count unique words in an array
3. The Initial 2hrs of the loop interview were straightforward enough and fun
The last hour in the invite email was described as a "Paired" programming challenge wasn't so good. The interviewer in this part seemed very disengaged. Logically i was able to describe what needed to be done - writing the actual code with an interviewer eyeballing you via zoom was very uncomfortable and a little unsettling. I completed the challenge and got it to compile and work as expected, with online resources [advised to do so by the interviwer]. Still, despite this being a "paired" programming challenge the interviewer offered no support
You will need to know about BigO notation and the different types of data structures
I got a rejection email but was offered no tangible feedback to improve for future interviews. My request for feedback and has been ignored
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
Find the first non-repeating character in a string of small letters
Difficult but it went well. there weren't as many technical questions as i was expecting, but it was clear the technical questions asked were relevant to the specific role i applied for.
I applied through an employee referral. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at Smartsheet in Feb 2024
Interview
Recruiter told me the interview would be:
10 min intro
40 min 1 - 2 coding problems
10 min wrap up. I ask questions.
When I got onto the video call with the interviewer she did not give the overview "this is how this will go." After brief introductions she asked me a values based question. I had no idea if there was a coding question next and how much time we are supposed to leave for it. Then we got to the coding problem.
Informal interview which would have been followed by 3 short interviews then finally a culture fit interview. I don't know much besides this as i didn't get past the first stage.
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
It seemed like it was the interviewers first or second interview. A few questions about my experiences and then a very very basic coderpad which I solved after providing a couple of potential solutions. The interviewer asked me the complexity of the algorithm and he didn't really seem to understand complexity analysis which made the whole thing a bit awkward
