Interview
The interview process for the State of California is simple and not intimidating, generally there is a background questionnaire where you self-determine if you are qualified, after that you can apply for positions and be interviewed by agencies. There are not typically any actual test or difficult interview questions. A hiring manager can have a separate test or difficult questions, but it is not common practice with the State of California.
Submit applications and receive no communication. Even as current state of california employee. Many positions not for interview but no feedback on why. Feels like an internal process even in current agency.

Interview
Interview was extremely formal and left no room to talk outside of the questions asked. Many questions were strictly about what you would do in particular situations or what you have done to remediate conflict in projects.
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
Describe a time you had a conflict with a projection and how did you handle it.
Depending on the agency you are speaking with, interviews can be organized, sometimes they take place in a conference room. Some agencies ask questions and let the candidate answer. Some agencies provide the candidate with the agency's vision and mission statement, but not all. Some agencies will provide one and not the other, or both.
