I applied online. The process took 2 months. I interviewed at Strange Loop Games in July 2021
Interview
The interview process itself was okay. I feel like there is some tension between the entire company and the apparently psychotic CEO (reading employee reviews). I was expecting an offer from this company, and I was told that I did really well, but then the CEO stepped in and was like "Hey! You rock, but unfortunately, you just want too much money". He did this via email while I was waiting in the Google Meets interview room to discuss details on the final decision. I'm open to the idea of contracting for a lower rate, and I told him that in my email reply, but I have yet to hear from him.
I would recommond that prospective employees not waste their time with this company. I wasn't asking for a lot of money for someone with 7 years of experience, and the fact that I was turned down for answering a question honestly about my most recent salary is disturbing.
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
They gave me a take-home task that involved maze generation/traversal. They also wanted a portfolio, which I didn't have at first, but they were very patient as I gathered material for them to view.
