I applied through a recruiter. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Success Academy Charter Schools (New York, NY) in June 2018
Interview
Contacted on linked in by recruiter. Had a quick phone info 'interview' a few days later. A week after I did a group Interview with about ~40 people but you're split into 4 groups of about 8-10. The whole process is about 4 hours. The environment didn't feel very competitive and honestly it felt more like an orientation than an interview process. The day starts with a presentation for everyone then the small groups rotate between tours of the school, a panel interview, answering some questions/analyzing a poem on a computer, and 1on1 interviews. I felt the panel interview was probably the most nerve racking/somewhat poorly executed. Basically they ask questions to the whole group and everyone just kind of pushes to get their points in. Similar to a college discussion but without the handraising. I'm fairly extroverted and felt fine getting my points in but some people were nervous and didn't know how to insert themselves. The interviewers (some principals and a recruitment manager I believe) are taking notes the whole time on who speaks and what they say and have your resumes the whole time--so they're clearly more interested in some people than others. Then they have you roleplay a situation where a student (played by one of the principals) is whispering to another in class and if you have to reprimand them, and other similar situations. Depending on the order of when you go, it can be more or less difficult. What they were looking for could have been better explained, and it didn't feel like they took it all very seriously-although they clearly expected you to. Essentially heres what you need to say: "(Student's name) the expectation is silence. That's a consequence" in a firm voice with firm body language. The one on one interview portion is where you can tell how interested in you they are. They send the people they obviously don't want with young recruiters. The people they were seriously interested in went downstairs and interviewed usually with two or three people. I spoke to the lead recruiter and two principals. This interview was much more traditional, and I could tell they liked me by the end. I received an offer by phone call the next morning. Salary is 50k for all associate teachers.

The interview was timed online. They give you time to think about your question and then you have to turn on your camera and record yourself. This was the first round interview.
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
There asked hypothetical questions on teaching methodologies
It was a series of two interviews. One was a group interviews while one was a one on one interview as well as a video that one had to record to answer additional questions
Group interview with behavioral and then also a sample of discipline. We were asked typical behavioral interview style questions like tell me about yourself, name a time you failed. It was kind of awkward because all interviewees would take turn answering. We were not given the opportunity to aak the interviewers any questions
