I was really excited about the opportunity to join Synchrony, but the grueling interview process, lack of communication from recruiters, and extended time frame to fill the the role I was interviewing for left much to be desired.
It was nearly a four-month process interviewing with a total of 7 people (6 Synchrony employees + the recruiter) from the company at various times. Honestly, this was overkill in the process but I stuck with it because I was truly interested in the opportunity and thought that it was a good sign I had to speak with so many people. I think most companies can get a great sense of a person after 3 interviews and any more than that is meant to exclude you rather than include you. The people I interviewed were nice enough with some having only been with Synchrony for a few weeks prior given that it was a brand new team.
After the 7th interview of basically answering the same questions from different people over and over again, it took me constantly following up with the recruiters for a full month to get an answer that I didn’t get the role and it went to someone with “slightly more experience.” It was a complete shock to the system after I had invested so much time in the process to get that answer.
From this experience, I’ll just say be sure you want to go through a grueling process if you’re interested in Synchrony.
