All of my interactions with the company were via email, as the process ended before the initial phone interview.
I was contacted by the company with a confusing email stating that they had been "forwarded my resume" and wanted to set up a call to "get acquainted with one another." The job they were trying to fill was not listed.
I reviewed them thoroughly on Glassdoor, and found that ALL of their reviews are negative and describe the same horrible work environment. BIG RED FLAG. I decided to test them in my response to their email by a) requesting a job description, and b) asking if a 40+ hour workweek was expected (in more professional terms, of course; I stated that I didn't want to waste their time if my needs didn't line up with their expectations).
The company replied by stating that:
1. They weren't sure what position I had applied to, and all of their positions were online (I assume they meant all of the job descriptions were online, though their website doesn't include descriptions and the only current job board listings are for an Account Manager and a Cartoonist, neither of which I would have applied for).
2. They had both hourly and salary workers (this completely misses the point of my question, and seems evasive).
3. Glassdoor is full of disgruntled employees (true to an extent, but when ALL of your reviews are negative, a pattern emerges).
4. I wasn't a good fit for the role (probably because I asked such *difficult* questions).
With regards to their first point, it is possible that I applied to them, as I've only been keeping track of my applications for the past six weeks and sent in a few resumes prior to that; I also vaguely remember applying to a toy company. However, if the company takes nearly two months to respond to the application and can't remember what position I had applied for, I have no idea how they're still in business.
As a whole, this company seems horrible. All of my findings confirm the three negative reviews currently posted, and I wouldn't touch them with a thirty-nine-and-a-half foot pole.
