I applied through a recruiter. I interviewed at TaxCloud in Jan 2026
Interview
A recruiter reached out to me, I sent back an updated resume and then got scheduled for an interview. I went through 5 total rounds of interviews, and was told I was being scheduled for a 6th, final, round with the CEO. I was then ghosted for 3 weeks. When I reached out to see what had happened, I was told the role was "paused". Then a few weeks after that, I was mistakenly sent an invite to someone else's interview for the supposedly "paused" role. Overall unprofessional behavior and a rather disappointing experience.

Question 1
The end of the technical interview involved the engineer asking me to talk over a basic system design for their current product.

Interview
The initial interview process was pretty standard- a brief meeting with a recruiter, followed by a call with the hiring manager. The next steps were unorganized and confusing, with no real direction or indication of a standardized process.
I actually ended up rescinding my candidacy due to these concerns. After going back and forth a bit with the hiring manager, we had another conversation and I let them know that I was still interested in the position.
Finally, after 6 additional interviews, I was given a thinly veiled verbal offer- "We'll have something for you by X date"- followed by crickets. After three months of conversations, they ghosted me.
The entire process was incredibly unprofessional and unorganized and ultimately a blessing, as I can't imagine what it must be like to have to work here.
