As someone who has been interviewed by the Kent Autistic Trust, the process can feel structured yet welcoming. Here’s a general outline based on a typical interview experience:
Application Review & Initial Contact: After submitting your application, if shortlisted, you’re contacted by the HR team for an initial screening call. This call usually confirms your availability for an interview, goes over your application, and may include a brief discussion of your experience working with individuals on the autism spectrum.
Interview Format: The interview is often held in person at one of their facilities, although virtual interviews might also be possible. It's typically conducted by a panel, which can include senior staff, team leaders, and sometimes individuals who directly work with service users. The panel creates a formal yet supportive environment.
Question Focus: Questions focus on your experience working with people with autism or in care roles. You might be asked situational questions to assess how you would handle challenging behaviors or support individuals with diverse needs. They may also explore your knowledge of autism, communication strategies, safeguarding, and person-centered care.
