      Software Engineer Interview

      5 May 2026
      Anonymous interview candidate
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Easy interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 1 week. I interviewed at The Software Practice

      Interview

Screening is a CoderByte assessment with 6 questions ranging from leetcode easy - hard. The questions are available in the CodeByte question bank. Next is HR screening, before proceeding to an interview with a senior dev, and then an interview with the CTO. CoderByte round went through, HR feedback that i'm ready to move forward in the process. Pay is below market, and most work here is with government agencies. They were happy to proceed and was about to confirm an interview. Then they confirmed if I had a CS degree. I did not. I don't see how that's relevant when my resume went through their screen, and Coderbyte round led to an immediate screening call. Anyway, standard rejection email after i said my degree isn't in CS / STEM. Shows you that a STEM degree is a hard requirement in this company's hiring practices, no matter the amount of experience, role match or technical interview performance you can show.
