I applied through an employee referral. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at Toast Inc in Dec 2018
Interview
After passing the phone screen and one on one with the manager for this position, I was set up on 5 consecutive interviews right after each other. All 7 interviews happened in a matter of weeks and follow ups were consistent and timely while I was being interviewed. All in all, I'd call it an extremely thorough and time consuming process.
I had great opinion of the process until they just plain stopped responding to my emails after NEVER sending any kind of follow up note, much less a rejection.
A week after those interviews (when I was told I would hear something), I sent a follow up email asking for an update. No response. A few weeks later I sent another follow up response requesting an update, this time cc'ing another person, and I received a note saying they would get back to me as soon as they could. A month later I emailed a third person who I had interviewed with to ask for any update or constructive criticisms and received nothing. After all of the effort and time I put forth for this process, all I wanted was a simple yes or no--just a response. I don't think this is too much to ask, and in fact I think it should be the bare minimum expected at this stage. It also wouldn't hurt to give some constructive criticism for someone who has made it this far down the line. This kind of disrespect for your prospective hires is very off-putting, not to mention rude and unprofessional. All you needed to do was to email with a yes or a no, simple as that.
It's been three months since my last interview with them. Still no response.
Thank you for your candor! You’re totally right- requesting a response is not too much to ask for. It’s the bare minimum. I’m sorry for the lack of communication and follow up. I’ll be sure to mention this to the team so that we can do better moving forward. - Mike Brown, VP Talent
