Applied online and recieved and email with a phone screen request. The phone screen was with the research manager and was pretty basic with behavioural questions. He let me know at the end of the call that there will be an assessment that will take about 6 hours. Since I wasn't a local candidate, I was given the option to do it online and even break it into three hours and schedule it on two different days.
I chose to complete it in one day and was given instructions to complete the tasks over a brief call. There were four parts (survey assessment, tabbing assessment, data analysis, report creation) and it did take 6 hours to complete. I found the tabbing assessment unclear in terms of instructions and hence hard to do. The only possible way of communication was via email to ask questions and since the assessment was timed, I didn't want to waste time on that section.
I was informed that there will be a follow-up shortly after the review. I never received one and found it to be utterly unprofessional, given the rigorous assessment they put the candidate through. A simple email should have done the deed. I really wish interviewers understand that a candidate's time is of value as well.
