I recently had an interview for a technical position via Microsoft Teams with camera and microphone on. What I found strange from the beginning was that the current IT administrator joined shortly at the start of the interview and then left without any explanation. After that, most of the technical interview was done by a non-technical person, which for a technical role felt a bit unprofessional. During the interview itself, all technical questions were responded immediately and correctly, without any delays. The discussion was normal and interactive. What surprised me afterward was the rejection feedback saying that I was “reading answers” which makes absolutely no sense. If I was reading, it would mean the company gave me the questions before the interview and I still could not remember the answers so I had to read them. :)
Of course, every company has the right to choose another candidate, but giving such explanations instead of honest and objective feedback leaves a very poor impression about the professionalism of the interview process.
