walked in and talked to the petty officer incharge and we sat down talked about what i wanted and then as we talked we took a pre test then the next day took a full test. the day after i went to meps to take my phisical and tests

You take an aptitude test that leads to what the Navy thinks you are capable of as far as job placement. Depending on how high your score on the test the more technical the job. Scoring high allows for you to gain the most as far as options to choose from job-wise.

The test asks questions regarding simple and complex problem solving, math, science, and English skills.
You take the same test that all recruits take. A decent understanding of all 10th grade level subjects will probably get you the max score. Take a few practice tests first. Choose your rate, choose your fate are words to live by.

There is no interview outside of qualifying for your rate (job) on the ASVAB and passing your medical evaluations at MEPS. Your recruiter may ask you qualifying questions initially to determine if you qualify to join the armed forces.
