This was a pretty refreshing interview process. No whiteboard hell and no Leetcode/HackerRank problems that have nothing to do with the actual day to day work. I had a quick 30 minute phone screen with the lead backend engineer. Then I was given a take home assignment to complete. The take home assignment was an actual relevant task for the backend role I applied for. I feel that this type of technical challenge is much more productive for finding a good fit for the role as 1. It allowed them to assess my abilities to do typical tasks for that role and 2. It allowed me to see the kind of work I could expect to do day to day. Unearth will even compensate you for the time spent doing the exercise (they asked me to spend ~4 hours doing the challenge). Even though this opportunity did not work out for me, I definitely appreciated this interview style.
