      Flight Attendant Interview

      18 Nov 2015
      Anonymous interview candidate
      Houston, TX
      No offer
      Neutral experience
      Difficult interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at United Airlines (Houston, TX) in Nov 2015

      Interview

I applied November 4th. Received an email the next day for a HireVue interview through the portal. It would greatly benefit you if you check the questions on here and have help. Look into the camera when answering questions and not the screen. I researched a lot of the questions, even typed out 14 different ones and rehearsed but end up being asked completely different ones. Don't expect the same questions from the practice questions. Dress like a flight attendant and do the interview where you have ample light. Smile and be positive. I received an email a day later to attend a face-to-face (F2F) at their facility in Houston. I arrived about 7:45 am and even though the paper states 8:30 am (I walked in 8:15 am), they had already started talking to the applicants. So make sure to walk in as soon as you are in the parking lot. There is water, juice, and coffee. I was so nervous, I was not able to sleep the night before. I was the first to be called into the interview room. The interviewer was really nice, she really made me feel at home and this is the most important thing. We hit it off and I excelled at the interview. When you are given the placard to read, just do it. Don't think about it. I went ahead read it out loud improvising a CB in my hand to get the feel of it. She told me she wanted me to talk to some more people and I was the first to have a seat behind the curtain. This is where you will go if they want you to interview with someone else. The second interview was with two people. I read on here they allow you two - three minutes to think about a question and step out of the room. It was not like that with this interview. Basically, they shot five questions in a row back to back. I felt as if they were just trying to hurry things along. As if I was imposing on their time. I don't think I did well, just because I was kind of put off by the fact that one of the interviewers did not read my resume and completely messed up thinking that I had no actual experience in dealing with large crowds. She seemed really short with me and I felt as if I was discriminated against. It was awful as much as I tried to smile and keep it positive, I just felt the tension from her. The guy was okay. They closed the interview and he told me I would hear something from them soon. That generally means "No." but I have read otherwise on here. I applied a few years back. Made it to the first round and was sent home. The second time I applied online, I checked that I was not able to relocate. Didn't make it to the first interview as they want people who can relocate. This time I made it to the 2nd round but was sent home. I practiced and practiced for two weeks. Even dressed up in my outfit. I was quite shocked when I walked in to the building as most of the people weren't even dressed like flight attendants nor were their hair properly placed. Yet they were interviewed. So I'm not sure what they are looking for anymore. As of today, I still have yet to receive an email or phone call from them. I just look at this as a learning experience.
