I applied online. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Vancouver Laptop (Vancouver, BC) in May 2023
Interview
The interview process was pretty chill/standard. I had a short interview with management and a design test, but they went with someone else due to budget restrictions, I guess someone else bid lower.

Question 1
They asked about previous experience, but were mostly interested in the design test to see what I could do.

Interview
Incredibly unprofessional and probably a scam just like the previous review here said. I applied via Indeed and was immediately given an assignment to create a redesign proposal of their website within one week. It was already a big red flag to assign something like that but I didn't have much of a choice as I need a job.
Once I finished the assignment and handed it in, I was scheduled to interview the following day through an online call. The interview was 15 mins and the owner did it while he was driving in his car. I was asked to introduce myself, gave the presentation, was asked my preferred salary, and then was told I would be updated the following week. There were no other follow-up questions.
The update I received the following week I was not chosen to move forward to the next round of interviews, which was fine. My issue was that in the same email I was offered to do the same role but as a volunteer, and that I should take it as it would be a good experience and they only had two spots open for it. I declined because I didn't want to continuing doing free work for a company that obviously doesn't respect anyone else's time and efforts enough to pay them for it.

Interview
I do not think they intended to hire anyone. I think it may be a scam because after the interview they said that they have openings for 2 UX positions that is volunteer positions to help applicants gain work experience. It was a waste of time. The interview process required the following: 1) Required to do a re-design wireframe of their landing page with 7 days given to complete it 2) Interview only took 15mins through indeed video conference to provide them a presentation. They did not ask any questions or showed interest in your work experience. It is a very small company run by 3 to 5 people. There's no introduction or anything. It was very unprofessional.
