I saw that Victoria Secret was hiring for part-time PINK Associates, so I printed off an application online from the Victoria Secret website and dropped it off at my local store. Make sure you put your absolute best references on the last page. That is the first thing they look at. Also, make sure you wear all black when handing in your application, it shows your professionalism and seriousness of the position.
I then received a call, about three weeks after I handed in my application, asking if I'd like to come in the following week for an interview. Of course I accepted and went in the following week for an interview. Be prompt and arrive fifteen to ten minutes before your scheduled interview. WEAR ALL BLACK! I can't tell you how inappropriately dressed the other interviewees were. I wore black pants, a black blouse, flats and had my hair and makeup neatly and cleanly styled.
The interview was a group interview that included myself and three other people. It was held in a back room around a large table. We all sat down and were asked relatively normal interview questions, such as why we chose to apply to Victoria's Secret and what were our strongest characteristics. The manager who interviewed us was very genuine and asked a few personal questions pertaining to the things on our applications. The interview proceded and the questions were out in the open for anyone to respond. RESPOND to every question! Be bubbly and enthusiastic about your answers and remember to leave the "um's and like's" at home. Also, I had no prior retail experience, so when questions came around asking about how I dealt with a difficult customer, I was honest in answering that I didn't have any retail experience, but that I would deal with the customer as I would like to be treated. Just be honest and even if you have no prior experience in retail, relate it to a personal or life experience.
The interview lasted about 45 minutes and the manager asked if I was able to stay behind for a moment. The others left and the manager asked if I was available to stick around for another hour or so because they were conducting second interviews that day and she wanted another manager to interview me right away. I guess she liked my answers and personality in the first interview.
So of course I stayed and the second interview again was a group one, but larger with 6 people total. I asked the others about their interview experience and they said they had interviewed for the first time about a week before.
The second interview questions were a bit more difficult and specific. The manager wanted to know what department we specifically wanted to work in. I told her PINK and she quickly asked who I thought the PINK girl was and what she stood for. Once again, be prompt in answering and take your time to carefully craft your answers.
At the end of both interviews, the managers asked if we had any specific questions! ASK at least two questions! I asked, how long had been working there and what they enjoyed most about their job! Ask about the manager, DO NOT ASK about what you will be paid or what your discount will be. Someone asked that in my interview and you could just see how disgusted the manager was. You need to want to work at Victoria's Secret for what the brand stands for, no just as a job to get free stuff.
The interview lasted about an hour and I shook the managers hand and then left the store. The manager stated we would hear something within a week whether we got the job or not and we could always call to check up on our application. A week went by and I heard nothing, but one of my references had texted me saying they heard from the manager, so I ended up calling to check up on my application. Whoever I talked to said that the manager was out of town and would be in contact with me in the next few days. The next day I got a call from the manager and was offered the position at PINK.
I just completed three days of training over a week and a half. I honestly LOVE my job. Everyone is SO NICE and wants you to succeed in your position. There is a lot of room to grow in the company! Plus the discounts and free items are a definite plus!
