Interview
I applied online and immediately was emailed to upload a 30 second pitch which I uploaded on the weekend. On the Tuesday morning, I was offered a time slot for the following week and I went to a Group Assessment day in Botany.
I made sure to arrive 20 minutes early in order to introduce myself to the other candidates and any staff I happened to bump into, as it is an assessment day and you are watched as soon as you walk through the door.
We were all given tables to sit at with 4 per table and there was a panel of Virgin recruitment staff as well as current cabin crew making observations throughout the morning. One by one, we introduced ourselves, what we were currently doing, what motivated a change and fun fact. I noticed I was the only person to move myself from my seat and position my body so that everyone had a clear view. We were shown a slideshow on the key facts of the company (make sure to research this as questions will be asked) and then we broke off into a brief group activity. We were given a "celebrity" such as Kim Kardashian or Harry Potter and were told to list five things that a Virgin staff member could offer to make their travel more better suited to them (ie. luggage requirements, in flight entertainment, seat upgrades). During this process each table is assigned two staff members to write observations of how you interact within a group setting.
We were then told to leave the room as they prepared for individual interview and were left waiting for approx 15 mins. I was one of the first to be called in and was interviewed by a recruiter and a cabin crew member. It was very brief, straight to the point and simple. I was asked questions about my motivation to apply for virgin as well as behavioural questions. They expected a clear situation where a positive conclusion occurred and how you overcame challenges so it is good to prepare situations in advance.
Within a week, I received an email saying I progressed to the next stage which is an online comprehension test.
Within a month, I received an email regarding reference checks.
