I applied online. The process took 1 week. I interviewed at Virtual Access (Dublin, Dublin) in June 2022
Interview
Asked to show up on site for a first interview. It was an hour out of my way but OK, what ever.
Entered the building and was brought to a room with a laptop that had no internet connection and 3 pieces of paper of which interview questions were printed out on.
I was then told to answer the questions in whatever language I want and left in the room on my own beside the sign that says to not leave visitors in rooms on their own. Interesting, anyways.
The laptop I was to use had no internet connection, interpreters or compilers as far as I could see so I couldn't run or test anything I wrote.
The questions were mostly math questions that were completely unrelated to how good you are at software development and more representative of your skills as a mathematician.
Once done I had to stick my head out the room and call someone over. At that point I expected a conversation about the decisions I made programming or a general conversation about the company and my background. Nope. None of that. I was then told I was done and that I could leave.
I'm relatively confident that nothing I wrote was looked over by anybody so I don't particularly care if they ever get back to me with an offer or not. I would have preferred this being done over the internet so I didn't have to travel for 2 hours to have an hour of my time wasted like this.
Interview questions [1]
Question 1

Given an array of numbers find which get closest to adding up to a number.
Thanks for your feedback on the coding challenge and I'm sorry to hear you had a bad experience when you visited us. So far we have only received positive feedback but we welcome all points of view.
We give very detailed notes on the process before you come for the challenge.
To be fair to everyone, interviews or discussion regarding the test only takes place after the results are thoroughly reviewed. Internet access is not required for the challenge and that's why we don't give it, but we do provide everything that is needed on the day to successfully complete the challenge.
Yes, we review all coding challenges and respond to everyone regardless of the score they achieved.
Thank you again for all your time and efforts and I wish you the very best for the future.
