      API Engineer Interview

      Interview

Well that interview went bad. My first communication was with the HR where I mentioned briefly my experience steps and she described what is the position about and what are the steps of the process. She booked me the technical interview right after the weekend that was coming (on Monday), because I believe it was Friday. On Monday I started the discussion with the team leader of the engineering team I would join in case I would be a good fit, and even though I was a bit nervous, we had a really good discussion regarding the technologies involved and the day-to-day, the business etc. after a while the same HR person joined and even though the interview slot was for 1 hour and we were talking around 35 minutes, the team leader told me that there was going to be a kind of a test situation (they didn't prepare me for anything specific before this interview, not even in the duration of this interview). So he shared a link of a "code playground" type of site and he shared a Java class with no context at all, he told me that this thing compiles and doesn't have errors and asked me to review it. I actually felt frustrated and kept trying to search for what was wrong with it instead of just review it in the end we discussed some "logical errors" it had, but there wasn't specific context to help my situation in that time to spot them. This process already took us another 15-20 minutes so we were already short in time, he also told me that there were 2 more sections of questions/tests for me where we didn't have the time to complete and after they both spotted I was fully off and in denial regarding the process, a whole comforting situation started where he was assuring me that this doesn't has to do with my knowledge and it is a stressing situation that he understands because it was the same on his interview on this exact company and that there is no reason to excuse myself for anything etc. The face of the HR was telling otherwise though. This interview ended 20 minutes after the slot, they didn't prepare me they weren't prepared themselves and it was really unfair for both ends. I didn't have the chance to show who I really am from a process like this and even the team leader ended telling the HR that they might reconsider the process in front of me. The point is that they never communicated back to me the result of the interview which I consider personally, really unprofessional.

      Interview questions [1]

      Question 1

      - Java class code review (with puzzles inside the class with random calculations you had to do while watching it for the first time) - database indexes
