      Embedded Software Engineer Interview

      1 Feb 2024
      Anonymous interview candidate
      Bristol, England
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied through a recruiter. The process took 1 week. I interviewed at WITTENSTEIN (Bristol, England) in Feb 2024

      Interview

It Is in the UK branch "high integrity systems" and "safe RTOS" They invited me to 1st interview and said that it's only about my exp. (in invitation and 2x times HR said about it and asked to prepare questions) but how it was: the interview was with Andrew Longhurst (managing director) Hello/hello, after he told me about himself and that his manager on vacation (it took 1-2 minutes) and after he started asking tech. question (not difficult, but usually its 2nd stage) " What is a volatile variable? What is interruption? What is a priority? How do high-priority tasks work? ... Why did you apply to our position what is your experience? Goodbye! " for reference, English is not my native language and I applied for middle positions with a salary of 40-45k, if in your opinion such an interview for this position is adequate, then ok. Of course, I didn't answer the questions - i was prepared to light dialogue but not a director's monologue. If you want tech. interview at the first meeting - not a problem, say about it and provide info about your company and tasks - on 1st meeting, i wanted to know about work tasks/process and prepared 10 questions (of course time for my 10 questions he can't find) and instead of 30m he spent 5m for interview. If the managing director is unable to adhere to the rules that HE HAS SET and cannot hear people, this is not my problem. I am happy that the manager is on vacation - and I saw this director early...
