Recruiter Screen >>> Hiring Manager Screen >>> Portfolio Panel w/ Design, UX Research, PM, Engineering: >>> follow-up panels (2-on-1 meetings)with PM+UXR, Design+Eng. The process was a pretty typical interview process. Spread over three weeks total. Asked for 2 case studies to be shown in the portfolio panel.
The good: The people I spoke to were amicable and seemed down-to-earth and passionate about serving their users, customers, and team members.
The bad: Unfortunately, there were a lot of communication difficulties on their end, both with recruiting team and the product team members during and after my interview experience. On the day of my follow-up panels, one of my interviewers got pulled into a project meeting. The other interviewer for that session was a no-show. That session got moved to later in the week, which is fine; I understand that things come up, and that's ok. However, it only got rescheduled after I had shown up for the interview, and no one was there and had to contact the recruiter to let her know, which is just not an acceptable candidate experience. They apologized, and it seemed like genuine miscommunication among their team members, so I went through with the rescheduled final interview, wanting to see it through regardless. About 4-5 days after all of my interviews were completed, I received an email from the recruiting partner indicating she had spoken to the hiring manager and had an update on the role. I gave her my availability for the days she requested but never heard from her. I tried following up again later in the week but got no response. It would have been nice to get closure and feedback (regardless of the decision). But I had other interviews in-process, and based on the communication difficulty, I assumed they had moved on to other candidates or else they would have been eager/easier to reach. It started as a great experience, but it was an unfortunate ending that could have been handled better regardless of the outcome of the decision.
All of the interviews with the exception of the first recruiter (phone) screen took place over Amazon's Chime platform (a very poorly-functioning app that seemed to drop connections too many times)...I haven't had issues with my 1gbps connection with any other platform (Meet, Zoom, etc) during interviews, but it happened in at least half of these interview sessions.
