I applied online. I interviewed at Xero in Mar 2024
Interview
I recently interviewed for a Graduate Engineer position at Xero (Melbourne) and was left extremely disappointed by the process. The communication was sporadic and misleading, with updates that raised hopes but led nowhere. It took them over a month and a half to provide any substantial feedback, which when it came, was as generic as it could get.
Their feedback on my video interview criticized my ability to communicate effectively and understand Xero’s core principles, despite my thorough preparation and adherence to the STAR method. The feedback was vague and lacked specific examples that could help me understand what actually went wrong.
Overall, the experience felt disorganized and was a significant drain on my time and energy. I hope this review helps others set their expectations right or choose to focus their efforts elsewhere.

Question 1
What motivated you to apply for this role in Xero's program?
I applied online. The process took 3 months. I interviewed at Xero in May 2024
Interview
Xero grad day had a fun presentation that we could prepare before hand, a catch up/tour with a Xero ambassador, and a behavioral interview. Felt like a big day but it was fun to learn about technical challenges through the presentation brief we got assigned to.

I applied online. The process took 2 months. I interviewed at Xero in May 2024
Interview
Behavioural -> technical -> video interview -> assessment centre.
Video interview consists of 5 questions, each with a lot of preparation time. These questions are all behavioural and would be good to use the STAR technique.
