I applied online. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at Xinlung (Manchester, England) in July 2023
Interview
I had to complete a very lengthy test translation of 800 words from Chinese into English. Test translations are a practise which exists, however I have never had to do one so long before. I sent off my test translation and received no reply until I followed up over 2 weeks later, not even to say that they has received my test. I had to translate and edit an entire personal statement and to be honest, I just had a bad feeling. It felt like this advert and test translation was set up to get free labour. This suspicion was strengthened when they replied immediately after my follow up email saying that I was unsuccessful, after 2 weeks of silence. I have no proof that their intention was to get free services, however the length of the "test", the fact it was an entire document, and not just a sample, and the lack of replies to eventually get a no was suspicious to me.
