About Deep C
Deep C builds, deploys, and maintains software systems for cross-border businesses, with a focus on supporting Chinese clients and China-facing workflows. We design full-stack web applications, backend services, internal platforms, management dashboards, and server-side infrastructure that operate reliably across Mainland China and international environments. Our work also involves software systems, workflow tools, and integrations that support semiconductor engineering, MCU-related operations, IC design workflows, and EDA-based development environments.
The Role
We are hiring a Software Engineer who will single-handedly analyse, design, develop, test, deploy, maintain, and document full-stack operational systems serving Chinese clients across semiconductor, MCU, and cross-border business domains. This is not a narrowly scoped position — the successful candidate must independently manage the complete lifecycle of multiple concurrent software systems, from requirements gathering with Mandarin-speaking stakeholders through to production deployment on China-compliant infrastructure.
The role requires a rare combination of full-stack software engineering, hands-on Linux server administration, working familiarity with IC design and EDA tool environments, and the ability to operate fluently in both English and Mandarin Chinese across technical, business, and compliance contexts. The candidate will be the primary technical owner of all systems and must be capable of working without supervision across all layers of the stack and across all stages of delivery.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, test, deploy, maintain, and document full-stack web applications end-to-end — including React or Vue front-end interfaces, Python-based backend services, relational databases, RESTful APIs, authentication systems, and administrative dashboards — within a single-engineer ownership model.
- Build and maintain internal tools, management systems, workflow dashboards, and client-facing operational platforms for cross-border Chinese SMEs, semiconductor companies, and engineering teams, including direct integration with Chinese digital platforms (WeChat ecosystem, Alipay, China-specific cloud APIs) using Chinese-language API documentation.
- Develop and maintain software tools, scripts, and workflow automation systems that support IC design operations, including DFT workflows, Verilog-based digital logic design, verification pipelines, and EDA tool environments (Cadence and Synopsys) — covering environment configuration, licence server management, and build-flow automation.
- Deploy, configure, monitor, and maintain applications on Linux-based server environments across Mainland China and international infrastructure, including ICP-filed domains, China-based hosting, cross-border DNS and CDN configuration, reverse proxy setup (Nginx), and environment-specific application configuration. Troubleshoot infrastructure issues specific to China-facing deployments, including Great Firewall constraints and dual-environment architectures.
- Identify technology limitations, performance bottlenecks, and process gaps across existing systems, then independently design, implement, and document improvements — maintaining technical documentation, API references, deployment runbooks, and operational procedures in both English and Chinese.
- Analyse operational metrics, system performance data, user feedback, and error reports to drive continuous improvement across all systems under management.
- Serve as the primary technical point of contact for bilingual teams, Chinese clients, and stakeholders across China, Hong Kong, Singapore, and Australia, conducting requirements gathering and technical communication in both English and Mandarin Chinese.
Technical Requirements
Required
- Hands-on experience in full-stack web development, with demonstrated ability to independently deliver complete systems from front-end to backend to deployment.
- Strong proficiency in Python as a primary backend language, with production experience in Django, Flask, or FastAPI for building database-backed web applications and API services.
- Production experience developing front-end interfaces using React or Vue (not merely prototyping), including state management, component architecture, API integration, and responsive design.
- Demonstrated experience building and maintaining internal tools, admin panels, operational dashboards, and workflow management platforms for business users.
- Solid understanding of RESTful API design, relational database modelling (PostgreSQL or MySQL), authentication and authorisation systems, third-party API integration, and system-to-system communication patterns.
- Hands-on Linux server administration experience, including setup, configuration, application deployment, Nginx reverse proxy configuration, SSL/TLS management, firewall rules, log management, cron jobs, process supervision, and production troubleshooting — not merely development on Linux.
- Practical experience with Docker containerisation, CI/CD pipeline configuration, and cloud or hybrid server deployment environments.
- Working knowledge of digital IC design workflows, including an understanding of DFT (Design for Test) concepts, Verilog HDL, digital logic design, synthesis, and verification processes — sufficient to develop, configure, and maintain software tools and workflow integrations that support IC design engineering teams.
- Direct experience working with EDA tool environments, specifically Cadence and/or Synopsys toolchains, including at least one of: tool installation and environment configuration, licence server setup and management, build-flow scripting and automation, or integration of EDA tools into broader engineering workflow platforms.
- Familiarity with ARM Cortex and/or RISC-V processor architectures and MCU-based development workflows, with sufficient understanding to build and maintain software systems that support semiconductor engineering and production operations.
- Demonstrated experience with Mainland China infrastructure and compliance requirements, including ICP filing processes, China-based hosting configuration, China-accessible domain and DNS setup, and deployment of applications that function reliably behind the Great Firewall.
- Experience building operational software systems for Chinese businesses, including direct integration with Chinese digital platforms, services, or APIs (e.g., WeChat ecosystem, Alipay, China-based cloud providers), with the ability to independently read and implement from Chinese-language technical documentation.
Preferred
- Experience developing automation scripts, engineering workflow tools, internal development platforms, or integration layers specifically for semiconductor or IC design teams in China.
- Understanding of MCU, semiconductor, embedded systems, or IC design industries in Greater China and broader Asia, particularly where software platforms support engineering, production, or client delivery workflows.
- Experience with software performance optimisation, security hardening, monitoring and alerting systems, and deployment automation for production environments operating across multiple jurisdictions.
- Familiarity with cross-border data handling, dual-environment deployment architectures (China/international), and the operational constraints of running software services that must function in both mainland Chinese and international network environments simultaneously.
- Experience working in small teams or as a sole technical operator with full ownership of systems from requirements through to production support.
Language & Communication
- Proficient in English.
- Fluent Mandarin Chinese, both spoken and written, is required.
- Ability to communicate technical requirements, system issues, software specifications, and deployment matters with Chinese clients and Mandarin-speaking stakeholders.
- Ability to read and interpret Chinese platform documentation, API documentation, compliance materials, and technical communication; draft technical communications in Chinese for mainland stakeholders; and navigate Chinese-language developer resources, forums, and support channels without assistance.
Why This Role
- Take full technical ownership of software systems that operate across Mainland China and international markets, with end-to-end responsibility from design through deployment and ongoing operations.
- Build and maintain practical business systems, internal platforms, dashboards, backend services, and deployment environments that directly support cross-border commerce and semiconductor engineering operations.
- Develop software that supports IC design, MCU, semiconductor, and EDA-related engineering workflows in a commercially meaningful context.
- Solve real-world software, infrastructure, integration, and deployment challenges unique to China-facing and cross-border operations — problems that cannot be addressed with generic cloud-first approaches.
- Join a small team with direct impact, broad technical responsibility, and minimal bureaucracy, where the quality of your engineering directly determines business outcomes.
