Description Atlas Energy's production map can be found on the page titled Appalachia. The energy company (formerly Atlas America) is engaged in the development, production, and transportation of natural gas (and some oil) primarily in Appalachia. The company has proved reserves of 850 billion cu. ft. of proved natural and 80 million cu. ft. of daily natural gas production. It operates 9,500 miles of interstate natural gas gathering systems in Arkansas, New York, Ohio, Oklahoma, Pennsylvania, and Texas. In 2009, to consolidate its operations, Atlas Energy Resources merged with Atlas America, and Atlas America changed its name to Atlas Energy, Inc. In February 2011 the debt-laden company was acquired by Chevron.
