Connecting Singapore and the UK by bus or taxi would pose considerable logistical difficulties, but ComfortDelGro's mix of businesses bridges the gap. The transportation holding company controls Singapore-based bus and rail operator SBS Transit and taxi companies Comfort Transportation and CityCab, along with interests in diesel fuel sales and automobile inspection (through subsidiary VICOM), leasing, repair, and sales businesses. Singapore represents the majority of the company's sales, but ComfortDelGro also has significant bus and taxi operations in several markets in the UK and Ireland, as well as in China and Australia. The company was formed in 2003 from the merger of Comfort Group and DelGro Corporation.
