Description Ellora Energy doesn't cave in -- it drills deep for profits. An oil and gas exploration and development company, the firm owns properties in the Haynesville Play and other assets in East Texas and in Kansas (the Hugoton field). The company had built up a land base of 910,000 gross acres with about 1,060 identified drilling locations. In 2009 Ellora Energy reported proved reserves of approximately 61 billion cu. ft. of natural gas equivalent. Investment firm Yorktown Energy Partners owns about 64% of the company. In 2009 the company announced that it was considering strategic alternatives, including the sale of all or part of its assets. In 2010 it was acquired by Exxon Mobil for $695 million.
