Founded in 1959 in Hong Kong, the company designs and manufactures a slew of motion products, flexible interconnects, switches, and control systems. Customers are concentrated in the automotive industry, and, to a lesser extent, home appliance, power tool, business equipment, and personal care markets. Johnson Electric's micro-motors end up in everything from automotive door locks and mirror adjusters to can openers, power saws, vending machines, and electric toothbrushes. The company straddles two operating divisions -- Automotive Products, the largest, and Industry Products. Johnson Electric sells its products to clients in more than 30 countries.
