Description The RIAA says you better not rip, burn, or copy and, if you're listening, you better have paid. The Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) represents US record labels in matters of intellectual property rights, First Amendment rights, and piracy. The group has filed lawsuits against Verizon, Aimster, Napster, and MP3 for allowing or encouraging illegal downloads. The RIAA also conducts research on consumer habits and issues certifications for "Gold," "Platinum," "Multi-platinum," and "Diamond" record sales. It has also added Los Premios De Oro y Platino, a Latin music award. The RIAA's members comprise about 90% of the US music industry.
