      Pros

      SAWSoft focused on agile software development with a development team forward mentality. From the beginning, it was a business goal that developers spend no more than 10% of their time in meetings (excluding direct customer interactions) and that management would grant them the maximum flexibility in the "how" of the development.

      Cons

      The project that was the basis of the company was successfully completed and handed over, leading to the closeout of the company.

      Pros

      Growing company in the Asheville area that is developing an internationally recognized product. Fast progression from intern to full-time engineering positions with real responsibilities and input to product development. Great starting point for new talent - after working for this company for a few years, employees are actively head-hunted for their skills and knowledge in this development environment. With a true agile environment, the team is driven to perform based on their own commitments.

      Cons

      As a team-driven environment, team members hold each other accountable to perform. Those expectations can be fluid. As a small company, all team members are expected to be able to perform and be knowledgeable in multiple areas - no specialists. This means knowing and remembering a lot of information about the different sections of the products.

      Pros

      Relaxed atmosphere, highly focused on collaboration and cross training. Benefits are decent, pay is decent for the area (better than my last, similar job). Advancement opportunities exist

      Cons

      Somewhat disorganized (not too unexpected for a startup), restrictive non-compete/protective covenants agreement (employees are not allowed to develop anything on their own without presenting it to management and potentially turning rights over to the company, regardless of whether or not it is related in any way to the work the company does).
