Pros
The company is not only a contemporary art gallery, but also a brokerage for secondary-market works, sometimes by famous 19th and 20th century painters and photographers. Located inside the Chelsea Mercantile Building, your work will not be constantly distracted by foot traffic as it would be in a traditional, white cube gallery. Openings are typically every month and a half - two months, which also gives you more time to work on outside curatorial proposals and backroom sales letters. Director, Mara Miller, is an excellent writer and has a lot to teach you about all kinds of writing. She is also a talented curator and makes her employees proud to help with her projects. She is very willing to train and teach you in areas you may need help.
Cons
The owner/director, Mara Miller, is very temperamental and it can be emotionally wearing. The gallery is not a huge money-maker, so the financial strains can be frustrating. She isn't a detail person and didn't always appreciate what was needed to run daily operations of the gallery.
