You Will Be Betrayed

Pros

If you're competent, you'll be given wide access to a staggering array of technologies and systems to cut your teeth on, good for building your IT skills.

Cons

Management is just terrible, all the way down - they try to pretend to be an employee-focused organization, but the moment any kind of strife occurs their true colors will be shown. I cannot stress to you enough, unless you're incredibly desperate for work, do NOT take a job offer here, you will be micromanaged into oblivion while any concerns or criticism will be shot down in an endless hail of meetings and impotent gestures. When I submitted my two-weeks notice, I left an exit letter that detailed my negative experiences and reasons for leaving in a concise and professional manner - the CEO sat me down, and said to my face, paraphrased "These are valid concerns, but we will do nothing to address them, do you still want to work for me?". After my predictable reply, I was escorted out immediately.

Pros

Good entry level learning experience

Cons

high turnover, awful management. Pretends to be some sort of democratic process but fails to fool anyone.

Great, but not perfect.

Pros

I heard 5NINES described once as "a bunch of cowboys" and while some may not see that as being super positive...I disagree. To me that means we are a hardworking crew of super smart people who take risks, make mistakes, get their hands dirty, aren't afraid to wrangle difficult clients and kick up a little dust when necessary. We do a good job here. We are wildly skilled and wildly talented. We just aren't conventional. Of course, this means that the owners aren’t conventional either. The CEO is an entrepreneur who is constantly thinking and coming up with ideas. If you are the type of person that can help him rein in those ideas and shape them into something elegant and realistic you will do well here. Additionally the owners give their employees an incredible amount of freedom and praise, but the flip side of that is the expectation that you manage your time, take initiative, get the job done and are open to feedback. If you need to be micromanaged, told what to do or can’t handle constructive criticism when things go south this may not be a good fit. Look, this isn’t a perfectly organized company….it’s rough around the edges, but the people are really great (including the owners). Everyone is incredibly personable and friendly. Honestly, most of my job could be done from home, but I come in because I like it here (<—— I have NEVER said that about a job before.) It is not lost on me that it’s a bit weird to be writing a review when we are hiring, but to be fair someone needed to offer a different perspective. If you are reading this review and can see where I am coming from this might be a really great fit for everyone.

Cons

Benefits and pay are average and could be better, but they are constantly adding and improving benefits. However, I'm happy here so average pay in exchange for NOT dreading Mondays is worth it to me.
