Pros

Fulfilling if you’re invested in the ministry or passionate about education.

Cons

Unless you’re a yes-man who never questions management or have a really good supervisor, management can and will be your enemy. They will find every reason to nitpick and get you demoted or in trouble, especially if you stand out.

Strong Potential, Underwhelming and Disappointing Follow Through

Pros

I really enjoyed my immediate coworkers and the products we tried to build together

Cons

There's a strong lack of support from upper management, with an absence of clear departmental vision or goals and the mindset that doing things the way they've always been done is the best way. This led to innovative ideas being consistently rejected or sidelined without transparency. There's a lack of formal HR, micromanaged work schedules including watching to see how long people are away from their desks, and a compensation system that rewarded longevity over high job performance. There is little to no opportunities for growth. If you're a yes man that doesn't care to have personal agency or opinions, this is the place for you.

Pros

At least in my department, we had great leadership and unity. Lots of time for professional development Time flexibility (at least as a student)

Cons

A lot of projects would get sidelined days before they were supposed to go live. Other departments would "pivot" last minute making our department work double speed to meet deadlines.
