Pros

if you care about social justice and want to rage against the machine and learn about community organizing for crap pay, good spot to be.

Cons

no benefits until after 6 months of full time. incompetent supervisor incapable of taking any responsibility or accountability. you are only a cog in this machine and are considered "useless" if you don't bring in enough paid memberships and revenue to the organization. long hours, no work life balance. compensation is abysmal. below poverty wages when you start. this is effectively a badly paid, no commission door to door sales job targeting low income folks. sales tactics of publicly posting stats and awarding most sign ups etc. are used. most of the organizational time is spent trying to get money from folks to sustain the organization, the "fighting back" and campaigns are a second thought. it's such a shame, since this org is the only one of its kind doing class-based organizing in Canada and has tremendous potential to be effective if not for its terrible management and work culture.

Pros

You interact with the community, have some worth conversations, are able to witness some kind of beneficial community change every now and then

Cons

Just terrible infrastructure and management. It felt like we were door-to-door salesmen rather than organizers or activists half the time
