    Negative Outlook

I have been working at AMP Limited full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

    - Friendly people - Relaxed environment - Central location - Go getters will be given the opportunity to go get it - Flexible working hours - Managers interested in developing staff and matching project with personal development goals - Good opportunities to take initiative and lead projects

    Cons

    - Horrible systems and perfunctory support from IT - Too chill; the going and getting can be hard if one is doing it alone - Getting things done the only way AMP knows how - Low priority in improving processes, "not enough time to fix the model this year..." - Bad reputation

    Advice to Management

    - Prioritise training - Increase effectiveness in communication by being authentic and reducing corporate gobbledygook - Get with the times in terms of technology and skills requirements

I have been working at AMP Limited full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

Attitude of office staff towards solving client problems Department orientations are client centric Good culture amongst office staff Product reviews clearly focused on appealing to retain/attract clients

    Cons

Severe lack of career development/leadership pathways compared to other large institutions. Policy decisions place unrealistic expectations on staff and client relationships Many senior management decisions lack coherent strategy at business level Significant absence of "commerciality" in senior management decisions Administrative burden for financial advice businesses is significantly higher than non-AMP businesses Far harder to interest management in assisting with further tertiary studies compared to other institutions AMP management unwilling to pay for compulsory FASEA exams where every other major institution and industry fund are Amend bonus structure heavily in favour of management's discretion Base salary towards lower end of market bracket Blind obsession with cost cuts/restrictions at expense of staff workload or client experience. Amateurish approach towards office amalgamations and staff redundancies that borders on offensive.

    Advice to Management

The vision at the executive level seems positive and beneficial but is being lost in translation by the time it gets to the GM level. If you are going to heavily amend what was a regular and reliable bonus structure to something heavily favouring your absolute discretion, you need to review base salaries to ensure they remain competitive with market rates, simply relying on a "total package" including a maximum discretionary bonus is unrealistic when other institutions are offering a base salary (plus super) of similar value to AMP's "total package". Try offering some relevant career development advice and leadership pathways to staff asking for it. Entry level HR reps directing queries to generic intranet sites or suggesting options not realistic or relevant to specific roles just draws the conclusion that you'll have to look at moving to another institution if you want the opportunity for progression. This is a significant step down from what is on offer from other institutions' HR departments.

    Negative Outlook

I worked at AMP Limited full-time for less than a year

    Pros

The salary that AMP offers is decent.

    Cons

There is no direction and the team has lost a handful of employees over a period of less than 6 months and now they are half the size. The management is too busy to blame the process/people. Mostly they want to out power each other.

I worked at AMP Limited full-time for less than a year

    Pros

Found few good people who supported me.

    Cons

    1. Clueless Manager 2. Treats his employees like pets 3. Uses bullying tactics 4. No clue why they hired a role 5. Some people suck up and protect their old employees No wonder it's a fading business.

    Advice to Management

Be fair to new starters. Your people managers are using dirty tactics to save budget and avoid challenges. I regret I worked there. Worst experience because of a bad manager. The review is specifically for AMP BANK
