Pros

will share some tips & wouldnt owe you anything

Cons

really bad time management. i wait an hr at the office for my interview & wait an hr on another day to sign the letter of appointment. went to work earlier than other trainee, but i had to wait 2 weeks before they start training me because “dont want to WASTE TIME repeating”, so they decided to waste my 2 weeks & i only draw floor plan (which my school taught previously). didnt say this beforehand, im only told i had to wait 2 weeks for my actual training when i started working for a few days. actual training will only start early Jan. so they think my time is okay to be WASTED because im still doing things & they will still pay me. but i couldve learn NEW things during that 2 weeks IF they start training me. what if another trainee only can start mid Jan ? am i obliged to wait till mid Jan ? changing the terms & conditions of the letter of appointment like no big deal. was told that i will be paid during the 3 months of probation, but suddenly change of words & said “it will be our loss if we pay people & we train them, but what if they are not committed to the company”. so in the end, the first month i will not be paid any basic & only have commission (subject to whether you have project on hand & they said high chance no because we are under going intensive training). also when they write the letter of termination, they said it was my fault & their company have no wrong at all. expect me to meet their expectation when im a fresh grad with no experience in the industry. even when i gave suggestion to the boss that he didnt think of it at all, he went “oh ya” & then said “you got no experience so dont suggest”.

Thank you for the feedback. We are incredibly proud of our work. That is why so many of our clients put their trust on us. Having a strong company culture is very important to us to ensure our employees are highly skilled, satisfied and happy in their job. We’ve invested a lot of time and love, that is why we have a comprehensive full 4-week training program for all our new employees. As you were an entry level employee with no experience, we decided to onboard you 2 weeks earlier for you to learn on the job first so that you can catch up during the training along with the more senior new employees. While we understand that your school had taught you how to draw floor plan, what is expected from our clients is different. We took patience in coaching you. Unfortunately, you were not interested to learn, having the mindset that you had already met the standards set by your school. Employees are the most asset to us, in upholding AP8Werks brand promise. That was why we redesigned your job scope and offered you a new employment term. Despite our best efforts, you continue to display your lack of enthusiasm for the job and failed to deliver the assigned tasks even under the direct coaching of a senior mentor. We are sorry that you didn’t get a chance to grow your career with AP8Werks, but many others do. We are not perfect, but we try hard at it and we are committed. Again, thank you for your feedback, we appreciate it. Wishing you all the best in your future career.

Unprofessional setup

Pros

Nice office space and comfortable setup to work

Cons

Unprofessional setup They don’t pay well They exploit the employees, make them walk long unnecessarily. They make employees do physical works like sweeping the lobby and Washing the toilets. Whatever the boss and his wife say at the moment becomes the rule. There’s no proper hierarchy at work. Nothing is taught, they just expect the employees to get as many projects as they can.

Thank you for sharing your feedback with us. I am sorry that your time at our company wasn’t ideal and we recognize that this industry are not for everyone. Working in an interior design and renovation firm is not an ideal working condition for everyone. In this industry, client meetings often take place on weekends and evenings, leading to irregular working hours. For a new trainee who has no prior background, the lack of knowledge and experience can add to more stress and challenges in coping with time management, work-life balance, and being proficient in the technical skills. You would have to take much longer time in coming up with a technical drawing than an experienced designer. The company is committed to coach and nurture the new designers. All the trainees in our company must go through a comprehensive full 4-weeks classroom and on-site training program. Your comments are somewhat surprising and misleading. Being a trainee, we would not expect you to manage projects or meet any new client. Time is needed to advance your work. We provide industry-standard remuneration. As a trainee who is fresh from the vocational school without any prior experience, the company is committed to show you the ropes. One must work sufficiently for one's compensation – to be worth one’s salt. We wish you all the best.

Interesting Learning Experience

Pros

Large Job Scope and is exposed to the entire industry despite my inexperience in the industry, was able to learn many things with the help of coworkers

Cons

Uncontrollable working hours and can sometimes feel like a toxic work environment. Although there is a lot of nurturing, there are always hints of manipulation and unhealthy work conversations going on. Constantly having problems with clients and subcons, never having a trustworthy subcon and always switching.

Thank for your sharing your experience with us. We are proud of our work and committed in helping our team to be their best at work. The lack of experience in this industry can be stressful for any new and inexperienced designer or architect. In this industry, there are numerous moving pieces, from understanding built guidelines and standards to scheduling contractor labor, coupled with being proficient in the technical skills. A successful architect and interior designer, the stress is constantly on. Without prior experience in this industry, the company believes in nurturing the aspiring designer and architect like you. If you want to advance in your profession in this field, you must be willing to put in a lot of effort from the beginning. It is a very rewarding career especially seeing the satisfaction and appreciation from many of our clients. We have been working with closely knitted group of subcons and suppliers to meet the various needs and requirements of our clients, with high quality workmanship and timeliness as our priorities. Thank you again for the feedback and we appreciate your hard work. Time is needed to advance your work. It is not always perfect but listening remain important to the management. We welcome your feedback on how the company can best support your learning and development journey.
