Pros

Excellent compensation and benefits. Company does a great job with finding a good fit for your existing skill set. Avian goes the extra mile to keeping you employed with plenty of lateral transfer opportunities. Company has good outreach & involvement with the community. Charismatic CEO. The company is trying real hard to become a big-time company as a big-time services contractor. If you're looking for a stable job with little vertical movement, look no further as Avian is the company for you!

Cons

Unless you're retired military or a long-time local resident, don't expect any chance to advance your career. While Avian does take care of you financially, they really won't take care of you professionally. There's no professional skills training, and any professional initiative to further yourself will be ignored. Unfortunately they really won't get to be a big-time company unless they leave behind the current bush-league style of corporate execution.

Growing Company, Great Culture

Pros

- Great culture. - Reimburses $25/month for gym memberships or other wellness activities - Opportunities to get involved in business development, even at entry level - Friendly and helpful corporate staff - The day after hurricane Irene, the CEO called me to check on my family, and see if I needed food, power, or supplies.

Cons

I don't have any major complaints. Due to the nature of the business most employees work off site with the client, so you can occasionally feel disconnected. However, the corporate staff and management team make a strong effort to bring you back in.

Business Development is bad news

Pros

Small company with medium-sized ideas.

Cons

Top heavy management-wise. Lost of Vice Presidents for such a small company. Still in the ol' boys Navy Club where everyone still uses their navy flyer callsign. Business Development leadership doesn't know what they're doing. 80% of the BD team quit within the time I was there. Leadership was the main reason.
